Essence Skin-saving Milk Conditioner

Volumizing Conditioner

This allergen-free conditioner is ideal for hair, scalps, and skins that need a gentler touch or that deal with ‘bumpy issues.’

Some conditioners can be too greasy for bump-prone skin, trickling down with sweat and clogging pores. Others can be heavily fragranced or contain other allergens that can be irritating or cause reactions. This supple, creamy ‘hair milk’ is light, ultra-softening, skin-friendly conditioning without allergens.

No heavy greases: won’t weigh hair down. Leaves hair soft, smooth, bouncy!

Fragrance-free, dye-free, paraben-free, preservative-free, allergen-free.

How Does Hypoallergenic Help Dry Scalp & Dry Hair?

Dry Scalp — itching, flaking, or both — can be an irritation, chronic contact dermatitis (a reaction to allergens, or the Malasseza fungus (a normal part of our natural microbiome) going on overdrive due to things like using antimicrobial hair products, taking oral antibiotics, or lots of disinfecting.

What can help? Use hair products without allergens, take a break from styling products, and (if needed) use targeted products to return the microbial balance. If your dry scalp remains, you could have another condition that requires additional care. Consult a dermatologist and ask about a patch test.

Dry hair is physical damage of the hair strand and can be caused by harsh ingredients, coloring and other treatments; frequent heat styling; using strong-hold products; or using elastics.

Baby your hair to reduce the stress on hair shafts or broken cuticles. Use a rich but gentle conditioner. And try a deep-conditioning treatment with a non-irritating oil like virgin coconut oil.

At The Gym, BYOC: Bring Your Own Conditioner

Why? Some conditioners contain pore-clogging ingredients that can trickle down with sweat and wreak further havoc. Others might contain allergens. While allergens don’t clog pores the way comedogens do, allergens can irritate the pore, leading to inflammation and acne. Your gym might stock some amenities, but they might not be the most skin friendly. And the last thing any of us needs is yet another reason to avoid working out!

Keep a bottle of your skin-saving shampoo, conditioner and cleanser in your gym bag to make sure you don’t break out from your workout!

Your Hair Care Can Help (Or Hurt!) Your Skin

Believe it or not, your hair care matters to your skin. Your shampoo and conditioner can cause or help clear lots of skin problems, from acne to rashes, flaking, flares, and more.

Comedogens in shampoos, conditioners, and styling products can trickle down onto skin, clogging pores and clogging acne on the face, neck, chest, back, and body.

Allergens can cause acne, too: while they don’t clog pores the way comedogens, do, they can irritate pores, causing an infected pore, i.e. acne. And allergens in hair care are well known for causing dryness, redness, and other reactions on the face, eyes, and neck.

Allergens in hair care can also cause or contribute to dry scalp or weakening of the hair follicle.

The right hair care can help keep skin clear on the face and body, and keep scalp flake-free (sometimes dramatically!)

Let your hair care help, not hurt, you. Choose products that are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.

VH RatingVH Rating

The Validated Hypoallergenic Rating System is like an ‘SPF’ for Skin Safety

We were the first to validate hypoallergenicity. Based on published allergen lists, the VH-Rating System — an original VMV “skinnovation” — is the only hypoallergenic rating system of its kind.

The VH-Number is a bit like an SPF but for skin safety (allergen omission).

“VH-” tells you that a product is Validated (proven via patch testing and allergen omission) Hypoallergenic.

The minus sign and number show how many allergens are NOT in the formulation. The higher the VH number, the more allergens are absent, the safer the product!

If an allergen is present, the VH Rating is lower and the allergen is clearly marked in the ingredients list. If it’s not one of your allergens, the product is on your safe list! If it is, just use a product with a higher VH Rating that doesn’t have your allergen.
