Which type of technology should I choose, Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF)?

Whether you choose a headset that uses RF technology or IR technology depends on how you are going to be using the headphones.

If you are planning on only using the headphones to watch TV while you are in view of the TV and don’t plan on moving around, you should look at headphones that use IR technology. They are the best choice for situations such as court proceedings that require confidentiality or residential complexes where there might be high wireless usage and will have the least amount of interference from other devices.If you are going to use the headphones while moving around your house and still want to hear the TV, hi-fi system or radio, then RF headphones are the best option (Model: SM-823D, SM-824D1, SM-824D2, SM-825D Pro, SM-8245, SM-828D1,SM-828D2). The RF signal can go through walls and ceiling, so they tend to be good options if you move around a lot and still want to keep listening while in another room.

According to the World Health Organization, unprotected exposure to sounds above 94dB can lead to irreversible hearing damage to the ears. Depending on increasing the volume to help people understand the TV dialogues from the gorgeous background sound, which make people’s hearing worse and worse.Pairing and sound delay of Bluetooth are annoying.

When using on wireless TV listening mode, the infrared diodes on the transmitter must be in direct line-of-sight with the headset. There cannot be anything blocking the direct signal.

For those who have sensitive ear canals, we recommend choosing SM-621D, which is a portable TV speaker.The unit incorporates “memory stainless steel strips” at the headset beams for adjusting to more comfortable wearing angle and shape. Super- soft and body-heat activated memory foam make you feel much more comfortable.

Rechargeable & Replaceable Battery / Convenient Charging / Intelligent Power Saving

The built-in Li battery is replaceable and rechargeable, one full charge supports about 15 hours continuous working (varies by volume level and content) .For protection of transmitter and power saving, the transmitter will go into standby automatically if there is no audio signal for 10 minutes. If the audio signal returns, the transmitter will be automatically re-start.

BALANCE (left / right)

The BALANCE control is specially designed for people with different hearing levels of the left and right ears. They can adjust the balance control as needed to best fit their listening requirements.

TONE (Treble/Normal/Bass)

The TONE switch is specially designed to deliver improved dialog clarity for people who have different sound frequency sensitiveness. Select Treble to enhance female voice and kids’ voice, select Bass to enhance male voice.

Multiple Audio Out Ports Supported

Compatible with most TVs on the market, the SM-863D supports Optical, RCA and 3.5 mm / AUX audio outputs. For TVs with only Optical audio out and occupied by a sound bar, you will need to purchase an optical splitter for installation.

For TVs with only Coaxial output, you will need to purchase a Digital to Analog Audio Converter for installation.

For TVs with only HDMI (ARC) audio out, you will need to purchase an HDMI to RCA converter for installation.

For AV receivers with a 6.35mm phone jack at the front, you will need to purchase a 6.35mm to 3.5mm audio adapter for installation.

TV Sound Out and Audio Format Setting

For TVs that support only single sound out, we don’t recommend to use this SIMOLIO unit to watch tv together with your family. Unless you have a sound bar + splitter.

For some TVs, you can play audio through TV internal speakers and an external audio device simultaneously by setting the “Sound Out” to “Internal TV Speaker + Audio Out(Optical)”. For digital optical connection, make sure to set your TV/TV related AV device’s audio format to PCM. Dolby / DTS is not supported. The menus for sound out and audio format setting are not the same from different TV brands. please refer to your TV manual for details.

TV & TV Related AV Devices’ Volume Setting

Sufficient sound output is needed to ensure Simolio working properly.

VOL.1 > 40%, VOL.2 > 30%, just for your reference. The bigger the VOL.1 and VOL.2, the better the S/N (Signal-to-Noise) of your Simolio unit.

Usually we suggest to fix the VOL.1 to a sufficient level, and adjust VOL.2 to control TV’s volume.

If the audio output signal is too weak, it will cause the following problems:

Check Before Purchasing

1. Regarding compatibility: This TV listening system can only connect directly to your TV’s optical, RCA, and headphone jack. If your TV does not have any of the above ports ready, then additional adapter is required for setup.

2. Regarding range: The transmission range of this TV hearing set is limited to 10 meters at most, and there must not be any obstacles between the base and the receiving headphones. Otherwise audio transmission and quality will be affected.

3. Regarding comfort: Some people’s ear canals may not be used to this in ear headset that hangs below your chin. Try the ear loops for better comfort, or consider over ear headphones as alternative.
